Plano ISD PTAs

Plano is an affluent community nestled in the suburbs to the north of Dallas, Texas. Tarakan Design provided a website for the PTA of Schimelpfenig Middle School as well as one of its feeder schools, Mathews Elementary. One of our main design goals was to provide a content authoring interface that could easily be used by typical PTA volunteers who did not necessarily have technical backgrounds. In addition, we wanted to provide continuity for both content authors and end users as they transitioned from the elementary school to the middle school.

The site also provides typical features such as a monthly news archive, integration with the PTA Google calendar, an alert system for priority posts, document storage and a directory for PTA board members. Schimelpfenig Middle School were so pleased with the site that instead of their traditional paper information packets prior to the start of he school year, they mounted an email and phone campaign directing parents to the site, resulting in a substantial savings in both labor and printing and postage expenses.
